“More than $38,000 will be distributed to local artists, writers and creative performers in Mississaugathrough the first round of a “microgrants” program, the Mississauga Arts Council announced earlier this week.
The arts organization announced Monday that it had received over 50 applications across four funding streams and have awarded funding to 18 artist-led projects.
“COVID-19 continues to deprive the arts sector of opportunity and revenue generation,” said Mike Douglas, the executive director of MAC. “(The) MicroGrant program seeks to inspire artists to continue to create bu providing funding for them continue their artistic practice during difficult times.”
