Alison Syer used her 2021 Matchmaker MicroGrant to create an illustrated book, Drawn In: An Illustrated Garden Tour that tells the story of her own garden, how it became what it is from not much more than weedy lawn to a mature, varied and welcoming space. Equally important, Drawn In highlights the artwork, bringing the story to life. It also demonstrates how the garden is a habitat for wildlife, as well as enriching life for its owners.
Working on this project has been both challenging and rewarding – it’s had some hiccups along the way but feels amazing to be about to publish! The support from MAC and everyone I’ve talked to throughout the process has been wonderful.
