It’s the City of Mississauga’s 50th birthday and Mississauga Arts Council (MAC) wants neighbourhoods across the city to show their civic creativity! MAC is excited to announce the Sauga Neighbourhood Arts Program (SNAP!). This new co-funding initiative provides financial support to community-led arts activations, events, and beautifications in celebration of Mississauga’s 50th Anniversary in 2024.
“Imagine doing something special for your neighbourhood, while you help celebrate the City’s 50th birthday. Get creative! Maybe it’s an artistic initiative such as a stunning new mural, energetic concert, captivating street dance, enthralling theatre production, or a vibrant arts fair… the ideas are endless! We can’t wait to see what creative projects are submitted to SNAP!” notes Mike Douglas, MAC’s Executive Director.
MAC invites Arts Groups/Organizations, Festivals, Service/Community Groups, and Neighbourhood Associations based in Mississauga to apply for co-funding support for projects serving their neighbourhood. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until November 1, 2024. Guidelines, criteria and submission form can be found at: macarts.ca/snap
“MAC is looking to see art projects in every ward of the city,” states Susan Durnin, MAC’s Administration Lead, “Successful projects can be from any art form that will celebrate Mississauga’s 50th Anniversary, promises an exciting event or lasting beautification, enriches arts offerings available to Mississauga audiences, and bring residents to greater awareness, connection, and enjoyment of local professional artists.”
SNAP! is funded through MAC’s successful MACsquerade Ball fundraisers. MAC is seeking additional sponsorships and donations to help us grow this impactful program. Contribute to MAC’s SNAP! Fund to support a project in your community. Learn more: macarts.ca/snap. Questions? Contact Susan or Mike at snap@macarts.ca
