Indie rock band Arlene & The People (Arlene Paculan, Kevin Dvorak, Jan Bilek, and Len Dvorak) used their 2021 and 2024 Matchmaker MicroGrants to complete their debut EP, “Ever Onward Believer,” which was released on June 14, 2024. The album itself is described sonically as “cinematic indie rock” and Arlene cites 90s alternative rock as a major influence.

I was able to finish funding the project with the help of the Matchmaker grant without having to suffer financially! Thank you so very much as this project feels like it will be the start of Arlene 2.0 and it will help elevate myself as an artist as well as highlight that this music comes from the greatest city in the world, Mississauga.

The project was celebrated with an album release party at The Rec Room Square One, featuring local acts FXRRVST and WILSON, along with Arlene & The People performing brand-new tracks for the first time. As Arlene states, “I believe that this project is something that I’ve always dreamed of doing. I was able to find my authentic voice during the pandemic, which allowed me to write these honest and heartfelt songs, without hiding, apologizing, or feeling overexposed.”

The album is out now on Bandcamp for streaming or digital download.
