Project: Vintage Fashion Show
Lorraine Brown used her Fall 2024 Matchmaker MicroGrant to produce a Vintage Fashion Show for Malton’s Senior Citizens Group at their annual Christmas luncheon, organized by Malton Community Centre and Neighbourhood Services. The show entertained 250 seniors with a fashion show that included dancing and some drama inspired by the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, providing the only entertainment for the event.
The production featured 20 models – five paid professionals and 15 volunteer students. The mentorship aspect of this fashion show helped students embrace and fully engage with the vintage clothing and dances from the time periods involved. The result was an interactive and engaging fashion show with seniors dancing and conversing about their memories from these eras.
