New Shows Coming to Long Term Care: Rotary Club of Mississauga Generously Supports Seniors Arts & Music Series (SAMS)
Mississauga ON – Mississauga Arts Council (MAC) extends its gratitude to the Rotary Club of Mississauga for their generous support of the Seniors Arts & Music Series (SAMS), a transformative initiative providing free concerts, singing and painting classes, dance workshops, and more to long-term care homes in Mississauga. The program pays professional Mississauga artists to deliver these high quality creative experiences to seniors, increasing their sense of community, and brightening their days.
“SAMS gives participants something special to look forward to—quality creative experiences just for them. And they really do LOVE it, as do their caregivers, staff, and families. The artists—compassionate, creative professionals—also cherish these moments, knowing they bring joy and connection to others.” said Mike Douglas, Executive Director of MAC.
Thanks to the Rotary Club’s support, SAMS will continue to provide these impactful experiences to older adults, fostering connection, creativity, and well-being. These engaging experiences help combat isolation and improve the quality of life for seniors in our community.
“We are happy to support the Seniors Arts & Music Series, an initiative that brings joy, creativity, and connection to seniors,” said Lorraine Crow of the Rotary Club of Mississauga. “The arts have a powerful ability to inspire, and we believe it is important to ensure that seniors in our community have access to such enriching experiences.”
SAMS programming includes a wide range of interactive activities, from musical performances featuring local musicians to visual arts classes where seniors can explore their own creative talents, and even dance and choir workshops. The program builds community and enhances the quality of life for seniors, bringing joy and emotional support through participation in shared creative activities.
